Device resembling bomb found in vehicle at car shop

CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — Officials in Caldwell County were called to a car service center for reports of a possible explosive.

Police and the State Bureau of Investigation responded to Fowlers Auto Service at about noon Friday on Main Street in Hudson.

They found a device inside a customer's car that resembled a bomb, which even had a timer built into it.

Joshua Beard was charged with perpetrating a hoax by use of a false bomb.
