Podium schedule: Mayor Foxx, first lady highight speakers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Thousands of delegates and politicians will take their seats inside Time Warner Cable Arena for the first' night of the Democratic National Convention.

It all starts at 5 p.m. with Neward, N.J. Mayor Cory Booker.  Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx will take the podium at 7 p.m.

Foxx told Channel 9's Blair Miller he wants to talk about the people of Charlotte and what the city's residents have been through in recent years.

"I'm going to try and talk about the aspect of it because I think there's particular interest in the issues we're facing now as a local community, but also to the country and what the country is going through," Foxx said.

San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro is the keynote speaker at will speak at 10 p.m.  First lady Michelle Obama will take the stage at 10:35.
