Dozens join anti-Trump protest in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — As President-Elect Donald Trump worked to fill his administration Saturday, protesters in Charlotte marched against him and the policies they fear he could soon enact.

Dozens marched in Uptown Saturday afternoon.  They said they don’t like Trump’s take on health care, national security, or immigration.

They asked state leaders to give ear to their message.

“Create some type of shields that can protect our citizens from some policies that could be coming out of trump administration,” said Andrew Fede, an organizer of the event.

Trump won nearly 50 percent of the votes cast in North Carolina.  Some on lookers of the march said they support Trump and wish protesters would give him a chance before leveling criticism against the Republican businessman, who defeated Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in the general election this month but doesn't take office until January.

“For those of us that are on the other side from them, I don't think we'd be out protesting.  We'd accept the results of the election,” Russ Warneth said.  “They should give him a chance.”
