SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. — Two people are in custody after a drive-by shooting that killed a 12-year-old in eastern North Carolina and critically injured a 3-year-old.
Officers charged Montice McManus, 16, with murder and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Malik Crawford, 20, is charged with accessory after the fact.
Police said 12-year-old Jalinda Campbell and 3-year-old Kyleigh Graham were sitting on a porch Friday in Southern Pines, North Carolina, when someone drove by and shot them, according to Channel 9's partner, WTVD/ABC11.
Jalinda died from her injuries and Kyleigh is critically wounded, officials said.
Police said the children were not the intended target, and the shooting involved two different guns.
