Driver freed after car crashes down embankment

GASTONIA — Crowder's Mountain Fire & Rescue responded to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment on Bethany Road at Chapel Grove School Road at 3:07 p.m. Sunday in Gastonia.

The incident involved one vehicle. The driver lost control of the car, went down an embankment and struck a large tree trapping the driver.

Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to get the driver out of the car, which took approximately 15 minutes.

The driver was transported to Caramont Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
