Driver killed after slamming into tree in Lancaster County

LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating an accident in which one person died overnight on Great Falls Highway in Lancaster County.

Troopers said the single-vehicle crash happened just before midnight when the driver crossed the center line, overturned and hit a tree.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt but was still thrown from the vehicle, troopers said.

Investigators have not released the driver’s name, but said the victim was a 24-year-old from Lancaster.
