CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A day after the merger between Duke and Progress Energy was complete, Progress' CEO Bill Johnson was ousted and Duke's CEO took over the merged company.
Eyewitness News spent all night going over a stack of documents released about the take-
over. The documents include emails sent between Johnson and Progress board members that show they were even taken by surprise.
Johnson wrote "I was quite shocked by this turn of events."
Another board member wrote, "What a tragedy, and there will be litigation."
North Carolina's Utilities Commission ordered the documents released as they investigate whether the board knew of the CEO switch before they approved the merger.
