East Charlotte restaurant closed after car hit building

EAST CHARLOTTE — An east Charlotte restaurant is closed after a car hit the building Sunday afternoon.

The crash shattered glass and dented the doorway. The driver of the red Toyota was treated on the scene and released, firefighters said he had minor injuries.

There is a lot of damage to Cedar Land Grocery and Restaurant on Central Avenue.

"There's some compromise to the structure of the building, and that's why we shut it down to make sure the building is safe. This building just needs to be repaired," said Charlotte Fire Department Battalion Chief Keith Rogers.

It is unclear what caused the driver to crash into the building.
