CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools placed Allenbrook Elementary School on lockdown Tuesday afternoon due to police activity along Toddville Road in west Charlotte.
Police said one man was shot at Toddville Road and Freedom Drive. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening but serious injuries. Officers have not made any arrests.
Chopper 9 flew over the scene and saw a heavy police presence and officers with long guns. Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s police helicopter was also spotted in the area.
Police have closed Toddville Road near Freedom Drive as part of the investigation.
The school lifted the lockdown at 2:55 p.m., which was 10 minutes past normal release time for students.
