CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte Fire Department fire truck flipped over and caught fire Thursday morning in south Charlotte, injuring four firefighters.
The truck was responding to a medical call around 8:20 a.m. in Bridgehampton heading down Ardrey Kell Road when it flipped.
WSOC-TV was the first to report the crash on Twitter. Channel 9 cameras arrived on the scene shortly after the crash and saw other firefighters treating the four injured firefighters who were on the truck.
Some of the firefighters were on stretchers as the truck lay on its roof smoking.
"I did hear a big boom, then a puff of smoke," said Mark Gonda.
Charlotte fire officials told Channel 9 all involved have minor injuries.
Earlier in the morning, MEDIC said it was transporting four firefighters to Carolinas Medical Center with potentially serious injuries. No civilians were hurt.

Channel 9 also received a photo from a witness of the truck on fire after the crash.
A woman who said she was driving right behind the truck said it was going too fast, came upon a 3-way stop at Bridgehampton Club Dive and was not able to make the turn and flipped over.
Raila Roinisalo was witnessed the wreck.
"They were crawling out. Bruised and bloody. Then there was a small explosion and the truck caught fire," she said.
Hazmat teams are on the scene making sure the truck is safe and no gas is leaking before the tow trucks put it upright and haul it away.
Skid marks can be seen in the road at least 75 yards before the stop sign on a curve. The marks get progressively thicker and continue around the curve to the point of the crash.

"I spoke to the driver who said they lost their brakes coming down the hill," said witness Carl Flatau.
A Charlotte Fire Department representative wouldn't speculate on the speeding issue or the brakes.
A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department team is at the scene investigating what caused the crash.
Chopper 9 flew over the scene where dozens of emergency officials were investigating the crash.
A picture sent to Channel 9 from a witness showed the fire engine on its roof with flames shooting into the air from its underside.
