Fallen Asheville fire capt. honored Sunday in Md.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — On Sunday, fallen Asheville Fire Capt. Jeffrey Bowen will be one of nearly 100 firefighters to be honored at a national service in Maryland.

Bowen died last July while fighting a fire at a medical office building.

Investigators ruled the cause as arson, but no arrests have been made.

There are 80 firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty, like Bowen, that will be honored by having their names added to a bronze plaque at the national firefighters memorial.
