Families moved to safety after shooting in Charlotte neighborhood

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to a shooting Friday night on Augusta Street in west Charlotte.

The two people who were shot had non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.

Police surrounded a home in an apparent standoff and after several hours, the scene was cleared because no one was inside.

While police surrounded that home, police escorted three to four families out of their homes for their safety.

The victims and the alleged shooter knew each other and the public is not in danger, police said.

No further information has been released.
