MATTHEWS, N.C. - Family Dollar announced Wednesday that they are laying off 135 positions.
The Matthews-based company told Channel 9 the jobs, representing 6 percent of the company's corporate headquarter's workforce, will be eliminated from across all divisions and levels at the Store Support Center in Matthews.
There are about 2,400 people employed at the Store Support Center.
The company recently conducted a comprehensive review to identify measures to increase operation efficiency and improve financial performance.
As a result, the company has implemented organization changes at its Store Support Center.
The company currently employs approximately 61,000 people across the country.
