CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. - The Red Cross is helping a family of seven Friday afternoon after they woke up to smoke and flames inside their home south of Hickory.
Firefighters said when they arrived shortly after 4 a.m. they could see flames coming from the home on Fy Nature Drive.
Everyone inside, including several children, escaped.
Investigators with the Catawba County fire Marshal’s office are working to figure out what caused the fire.
