Family of Huntersville teen killed in crash wants investigation, answers

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Family and friends gathered Tuesday night to remember a young North Mecklenburg High School track star killed in a tragic crash last Thursday in Huntersville.

Students and family members gathered at the school to remember 14-year-old Enjoneah Reel.

Meanwhile, her family is pushing Huntersville police for answers about what led to the crash.

An attorney for her family said Tuesday they are pushing police to find out exactly what caused the crash that killed Reel.

The attorney told Channel 9 that detectives have not said much about the collision that happened on McCoy Road.

Reel and her boyfriend, Kalvin McCollum, were hit head-on by another vehicle. McCollum, who had been hospitalized with serious injuries, was released Monday.

Police said they will not release further information until the investigation is complete.

The McCollum family is frustrated as well. His mother said police haven't provided her with information either.

They want to see a copy of the police report but authorities said they won't release it until the investigation is complete.
