CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. - The father of a 3-year-old who shot his little sister is scheduled to be in court Friday.
Justin Carper faces a misdemeanor charge of failing to store a firearm to protect a minor.
Police said the boy used a step stool to get the gun from the dresser in his parent's bedroom earlier this month.
He shot the 17-month-old in her upper body.
The bullet missed all organs and bones and she is expected to make a full recovery.
