CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A Charlotte father is being charged with child abuse after police say he refused to turn the heat on to keep his baby son warm.
Daniel Lee, 26, is facing felony child abuse charges after police said the baby boy was found inside the family's apartment without the heat on when it was extremely cold.
They said the power was on, but the parents would not run the heat and neighbors said they were shocked.
"It's horrible, very horrible," said Alev Atac, a neighbor. "As a father, as a parent, you want the child to be OK."
Officials said the boy was taken to the hospital.
Lee is in jail on $125,000.
