DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Davidson County teen came across an unusual sight on High Rock Lake when he found a deer desperately trying to get to shore.
Chance Pressley was jet-skiing with friends when he spotted the animal. He immediately jumped into the water and grabbed the fawn.
The group then tried to lift it onto the jet ski, but the deer kicked him.
Finally, another friend towed the two back to shore.
"Then I called my dad and he said put it back where I found it,” Pressley said. “I don't think they understood. It was in the middle of the lake. I can't put it back where I found it."
The next day the family turned the fawn over to a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.
Pressley said the animal still recognizes him when he comes to visit.
The fawn will eventually be transported to a rescue ranch.
