FBI agent's gun, ammo stolen during vehicle break-in

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An FBI agent's vehicle was broken into in south Charlotte and a handgun and ammunition were stolen, a spokesperson with the agency said Friday.

The agent's vehicle was apparently broken into Thursday morning while it was parked at a hotel in the Stonecrest area near Ballantyne, where the agent is temporarily staying.

The FBI and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are investigating the car break-in and anyone with information regarding the theft should call FBI Charlotte at 704-672-6100 or CrimeStoppers at 704-334-1600.
