CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. - Caldwell County firefighters were battling a house fire just east of Lenoir early Friday morning.
Firefighters arrived at the home on Duck Creek Road around 5 a.m. and saw flames shooting through the roof.
Officials said two people were in the house when the fire started but were able to get out after waking up to the smell of smoke.
The house was destroyed and it took firefighters more than an hour to put out the flames.
Investigators are still trying to find out how the fire started.
