Firefighter injures hand fighting west Charlotte house fire, officials say

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Firefighters were working to put out hot spots after a fire damaged an abandoned home overnight in west Charlotte.

The flames broke out around 3 a.m. at the home on Avalon Avenue, near Freedom Drive and Interstate 85.

Fire investigators have not said how the fire started, but officials did tell Channel 9 that nobody lived in the home.

One firefighter was treated for burns to his hand but no one else was injured.
