Mother, 2 children watch as fire rips through home in Rowan Co.



ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. - Firefighters in Rowan County responded to a house that had caught fire Wednesday morning.

Crews were fighting the blaze in the 13000 block of Barger Road around 10:30 a.m.

From Chopper 9, heavy smoke could be seen and the home suffered extensive damage. Firefighters said the home was fully engulfed.

Officials said a mother and two children lived at the home but were not hurt. Firefighters said four cats were unaccounted for though.

There was no word how the fire may have started.
