GASTON COUNTY, N.C. - Firefighters said a van's gas tank exploded and spread fire to nearby woods.
The large fire prompted a shutdown of York Highway in Gaston County for two hours Thursday.
Firefighters said flames from the explosion reached 60 feet in the air.
Trash and debris at a nearby business also burned before firefighters got it under control.
