CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte community rallied around a 7-year-old girl who was badly burned in a fire last week.
Katlyn Cook suffered serious injuries in an apartment fire off East 36th Street last Monday, and had to be flown to the Wake Forest Baptist burn center in Winston Salem.

Neighbors and firefighters held a barbeque fundraiser on Sunday for the little girl at the NoDa Company Store on Yadkin Avenue at 1 p.m.
Donors have already raised more than $8,000 for her family.
Katlyn remains in the hospital in serious condition.
