Firefighters put out garage fire overnight in northwest Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Firefighters are trying to figure out what started an overnight fire at a northwest Charlotte home.

Fire crews were called out to the house on Big River Road near Capps Hill Mine Road around 4 a.m. Thursday morning.

Firefighters said they could see heavy smoke pouring from a garage when they arrived.

Crews were able to put out the fire before it spread to the house.
