Firefighters: 2 families displaced after apartment fire

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A two-alarm fire sent dozens of firefighters to an apartment building in southeast Charlotte Thursday morning.

Chopper 9 flew over the scene where firefighters could be seen on the roof fighting the smoke.

Firefighters told Channel 9 there are no injuries, but two families are displaced as a result of the fire.

The fire at the Silver Oak Apartments started around 10:30 a.m.

More than 50 firefighters responded to the scene and fortunately nobody was home at the time.

Firefighters have not said what caused the fire.

The Red Cross is assisting the families with finding a new place to stay.
