First Night Charlotte returns to Uptown on New Year's Eve

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Uptown will host several activities Monday for kids and families at First Night Charlotte.

McDonald's First Night Kids will be noon to 5 p.m. with a kids' countdown at 4:50 p.m.

Activities focus in and around the NASCAR Hall of Fame, WBT Holiday on Ice Rink, The Belk Action Center at 330 S. TryonSt., Wells Fargo Atrium, The Green and the Duke Energy Main Stage located at Levine Avenue of the Arts.
First Night Charlotte will be 7 to 11:30 p.m. and Countdown to Midnight will be 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Activities focus in and around the WBT Holiday on Ice Rink, The Green, main stage, Mint Plaza and Wells Fargo Atrium. Entertainment includes musicians, a flash mob, an improv comedy troupe, mocktails, aerialists, circus arts, photo booths and more.

The countdowns will be at the Duke Energy Main Stage at Levine Avenue of the Arts.

Artists, dancers, singers, circus performers, scientists and more take to the streets and venues for First Night Charlotte 2013, Uptown's cultural event of the year on New Year's Eve.

Evening activities boast a fantastic midnight finale featuring headline band, Simply Irresistible, performing from 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at the main stage.

First Night Charlotte is an innovative, diverse and high-quality alcohol-free celebration of the New Year.

Wristbands will go on sale by 11 a.m. on New Year's Eve. Purchase a First Night wristband on site at The Green, NASCAR Hall of Fame, or at the Belk Action Center at 330 S. Tryon St.

Wristbands are available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 to 10 p.m.

Adult wristbands are $10, children 4 and younger are free (with a banded adult), and kids 5-12 are $5 (with a banded adult).
