Former Cabarrus Co. coach in court Monday for child sex charges

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — A former coach at Cabarrus County schools was in court on child sex charges Monday.

Michael Osborne is out on bond, but could be sentenced up to 59 months in prison if found convicted.

Osborne was also a grounds worker at several schools in the district.

Detectives say he pretended to be a 14-year-old girl on Facebook so he could get nude pictures of teenage boys.

Police say they have identified seven victims so far.

Osborne is suspended with pay during the investigation.

His next court date is Nov. 12.
