Fort Bragg soldiers reunite with families

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — A group of Fort Bragg soldiers reunited with their loved ones at home after a 9-month tour in South Korea.

Families were overcome with emotion after seeing their loved ones, but it is also a bittersweet goodbye for the U.S. Army's final Kiowa Warrior Squadron who conducted their final mission.

Parent James Bullard fought in the Vietnam War when his letters to his wife took three weeks to get to her.

"Hooray for technology," Bullard said.

These days, they Skype, a video-calling service, with their son who returned home from South Korea.

The final mission for the 82's Combat Aviation Brigade's Kiowa Warrior Squadron who provided aviation support to the U.S. Air Force.

"Last ones to operate it and maintain it, and it's just been a great, great tour, and privilege for me," Capt. Ariel Castillo said.

The time apart felt like forever to the loved ones.

While this mission is over, a new one has begun for Spec. Tyler Rigg.

"He doesn't know me yet, but he's about to," Rigg said about his son.

The families are looking forward to the same thing and that is to spend time together.
