Gaston County man charged with shooting at vehicles for months

GASTON COUNTY, NC — Michael Edward Wilson, 62, is charged with four counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle and assault in secret.

The Gaston County Police Department says the shooting incidents started last July on South Point Road in Belmont. No one was hurt. One of the vehicles struck was a Belmont Fire Department truck that is based at the South Point Volunteer Fire Department.

"It's about time justice was served," Zachary Neagle said.

Police say Wilson fired a shot at Neagle's truck last year. The bullet came within inches of hitting him.

Neagle said, "It almost makes me wonder like what were you aiming at? Did you miss me? Were you aiming at me?"

He said Wilson has been doing this for years.

"I feel like it shouldn't have taken as long," Neagle said.

Videos of Wilson, posted to his own YouTube channel, helped play a major role in his case. Wilson is seen angrily confronting people driving in Belmont and hurling insults.

Wilson is currently being held in the Gaston County Jail under a $1 million bond.

The investigation is still open. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Dow at (704) 866-3320 or Crimestoppers at (704) 861-8000.
