GASTONIA, N.C. - A Gastonia veteran who died in a house fire will be buried with full military honors on Monday.
Sven Erickson will be laid to rest at the Salisbury National Cemetery. The Patriot Guard will start a short ride from the VFW on Brenner Avenue to the cemetery around 10:45 a.m.
Erickson had no immediate family, and no one to claim his body.
His neighbors found him on Veterans Day after his house caught fire.
After the fire, Eyewitness News helped investigators track down Erickson's discharge papers so he could have the military burial.
