CHARLOTTE, N.C. — North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper announced Tuesday he would veto a bill requiring a new primary election if fraud in the 9th Congressional District race is discovered.

November election results showed Republican Mark Harris had a 905-vote lead over Democratic challenger Dan McCready.
Weeks later, the state's elections board refused to confirm the victory after allegations of absentee ballot fraud surfaced.
