CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 21-year old man was indicted by a grand jury this week, after police said he shot and killed another man during protests in uptown Charlotte
Rayquan Borum is accused of shooting 26-year-old Just Carr in the head outside of the Omni Hotel. Carr died at the hospital the next day from his injuries. Police apprehended Borum days later and charged him with first-degree murder.
Arrests warrants showed police used surveillance cameras from outside the Omni to identify Borum as the person who shot Carr.
Protests broke out in Charlotte in September in the wake of the fatal police shooting of Keith Lamont Scott, 43.
Scott was shot by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Officer Brentley Vinson, who was not in uniform or wearing a body camera.
