Gun found hidden in lawn mower at Rock Hill church

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Someone who found a lawn mower in the woods behind Sylvia Circle Baptist church picked it up and found a hand gun hidden beneath it, according to a Rock Hill police report.

The gun, a Ruger .38 caliber revolver, was missing the cylinder and the serial number was scratched off, the report says.

A church member called police on Sunday afternoon. He told the officer that a youth from the church saw the lawn mower and thought it appeared to be in good condition. The gun was in a pile of leaves under the mower.

The officer took the gun and put it in evidence at the station to be processed, the report says.
