Heavy rain to remain through morning commute

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Heavy rain will move east of the metro as the morning rolls on Thursday, but roads will remain wet.

Some brief periods of sleet may mix in as the rain picks up in the area, but this will melt immediately.

Most of the rain will taper off by late morning and some clearing may show up later Thursday afternoon.

Temps will be very chilly all day long with highs only in the upper 40s.

Brighter and warmer weather returns Friday with highs close to 60 degrees.

Drier weather will also last through the weekend, but a few more clouds will arrive on Sunday, cooling things down a bit.
