Help on the horizon for laid-off Freightliner workers

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — In Gaston County, 800 Freightliner workers who will be laid off by the end of the month due to slumping sales will have the chance Tuesday to receive help getting back on their feet.

Channel 9’s partners at the Gaston Gazette report that Gaston College is holding two sessions for those workers to help them bridge the gap from being laid off to full time employment.

Those who attend can meet with area employers, receive help writing a resume, file for unemployment and file for insurance.

Tuesday’s event will run from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and will be held at the Dal-Piaz Student Success Center at the Gaston College main campus on Highway 321 in Dallas.
