Hickory church wants help in honoring veterans

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A church in Hickory wants help in honoring the men and women who have served the country.

Several veterans will be at Exodus Missionary Outreach Church to highlight the importance of the holiday.

The service starts at 6 p.m. at the church on Highland Avenue, Northeast.

Thousands of people filled the streets for the same cause in uptown on Saturday. The Salute to Veterans Parade moved down Tryon Street.

The march featured local middle and high school bands, members of the CMS Junior ROTC, active military units and veterans organizations.

Last year more than 2,000 people participated. Eyewitness News is waiting to hear the final numbers from this years' event.
