Homeowners may consider legal action in tax revaluation

MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — Some Mecklenburg County homeowners told Eyewitness News they may consider legal action if they aren't refunded after paying too much in property taxes.

Eyewitness News has been covering the fallout of the controversial tax revaluation process for months.

Thousands of homeowners have protested their taxes..

Channel 9 spoke to one Myers Park resident determined to find a solution.

“Where there's a will, there's a way. It was wrong. They've acknowledged it was wrong. They can't take what they wrongly took,” said Cathy Davis.

Davis said she and many others have talked with lawyers about a class-action suit, but it's too soon for that to happen.

The county attorney is seeing if it's legal to ask the legislature to allow the county to refund taxes retroactively.
