ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies have charged a man in a deadly shooting at an Alexander County home Tuesday afternoon.
According to officials, 39-year-old Joshua Branch shot and killed 41-year-old Walter Minton around 12:30 p.m. at a home on Springs Pointe Drive, south of Stony Point.
After the shooting, Branch went to a neighbor’s home and asked them to call 911.

Deputies said when they got there, they found Minton lying on the ground behind the home with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Branch was arrested and charged with murder. He’s being held at the Alexander County Detention Center.
Deputies have not said what led to the shooting.
