CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is backing the Republican challenging U.S. Rep. Robert Pittenger, R-N.C.
Huckabee spoke to Channel 9 before a campaign event for First Baptist Church of Charlotte Rev. Mark Harris.
Huckabee said he supports Harris because his whole life has been about serving people.
The former Republican governor and presidential candidate also addressed a national controversy involving Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore. He said Moore should stay in the race despite several national GOP leaders saying he should quit after being accused of sexually assaulting or pursuing several teenage girls decades ago when he was in his 30s.
“That’s for the people of Alabama to decide,” Huckabee said. “They know Roy Moore. They know these women."
Harris ran against Pittenger in 2016 and lost to the 9th Congressional District incumbent by just 134 votes in the Republican primary.
