I-277 bridge rehabilitation work to start next week

The N.C. Department of Transportation will start a $16.3 million project next week to improve 22 bridges along I-277 in Charlotte.

The NCDOT will be repairing existing structures, painting bridge beams and putting down a new overlay.

There will be intermittent lane closures in place each night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Ramps will also be closed at that time.

Tuesday/Wednesday: Crews will close the ramp bridge from the I-277 inner loop to U.S. 74 East from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday. Intermittent lane closures will be in place on the bridge from the I-277 inner loop to 10th Street.

Wednesday/Thursday: The ramp from Eleventh Street/Davidson Street to the I-277 inner loop will be closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday. Intermittent lane closures will be in place on the bridge from the I-277 outer loop to 10th Street.

Thursday/Friday: The ramp from U.S. 74 West to the I-277 outer loop will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday.

The project is scheduled to be complete by July 2019.
