INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. — An Indian Trail Town Council member was arrested and charged with assault.
Deputies arrested Amy Stanton just before noon Saturday at her home.
Authorities told Channel 9 that Stanton and her 22-year old daughter got into a physical fight.
The daughter called 911.
Both women were charged with simple assault.
“The town was made aware of an incident today involving Councilwoman Amy Stanton,” said Mike Parks, the Indian Trail communications and community engagement coordinator. “We ask that our residents keep Councilwoman Stanton and her family in their thoughts and prayers, and please respect her family's privacy. The Town of Indian Trail will not be making any further comment at this time."
