IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Iredell County Animal Services has confirmed a case of rabies in an area north of Statesville,
The rabies case, involving a skunk, is in the Clear Meadow Lane area, between South Chipley Ford and Cooper Farm roads.
Pets are not protected from rabies until 28 days after their first rabies vaccination.
Do not make contact with any stray or wild animals, and pets or stray animals suspected of exposure to rabies should be reported to Iredell County Animal Services and Control at 704-878-5335.
A free rabies clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 11 at Oakdale Baptist Church, 585 Mocksville Highway, Statesville.
The shots are good for one year and dogs can be vaccinated in their owners’ cars. Cats will need to be in carriers and taken inside the church for shots.
