Rock Hill assistant principal arrested on sex charges resigns, officials say

ROCK HILL, S.C. — A judge reduced the bond of a Rock Hill assistant principal accused of sex charges involving students Thursday.

Andrew Williams, who works at Northwestern High School, is accused of using Snapchat to send obscene pictures and videos of himself to a 16-year-old female student.

Williams has resigned his position with Northwestern High School, school officials told Channel 9 on Tuesday.

Williams is also charged with having sex with another 16-year-old.

His bond was lowered from $1.2 million to $125,000.

If Williams is released, he will have to live with this parents and wear a GPS monitor. He will not be allowed to use any electronic devices, he can’t have any contact with any victims, and he can't be with any children under 18 unless an adult is with him. He is prohibited from leaving the state and can’t go onto any educational or school properties for any reason.

He can go to church. Williams’ aunt and friend made statements on his behalf Thursday, and Williams also made a statement.

Channel 9 obtained personnel records for the school district showing that Williams was reprimanded twice while working at schools in Rock Hill for inappropriate messaging with students.

The first contact was reported in May 2013 when he was a physical education teacher at Rock Hill High School.

The principal told Williams that it was inappropriate and hard to justify why any male staff member should have that type of contact with a student.

He was reprimanded last May at Northwestern High School, where he is currently the assistant principal.

Williams admitted to messaging a female student through the social media platform Snapchat, authorities said.

The principal said he was extremely disappointed by Williams’ actions.
