Woman steps out of shower to find intruder in Lancaster home

LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. — A woman went through a terrifying ordeal Wednesday morning when she found an intruder standing outside of her shower, according to her husband.

The victim's husband told Channel 9 that his wife was home alone when it happened. He said the intruder hit his wife several times when she stepped out of the shower and took her cellphone.

The woman managed to escape from the home on Greenbrier Drive and ran to a neighbor's house to call 911, according to her husband.

"I don't know how she got away from him," said Teresa Honeycutt, who lives next door and heard about her neighbor's frightening ordeal. "She jumped the fence, and when she jumped the fence she was beating on my next door neighbor's door."

The victim was forced to run to her neighbor's home with no clothes on.

"They open the door and say she fell flat in the kitchen, and she was naked, and his wife went and got her a robe to cover up," Honeycutt said.

Deputies started searching and brought in a K-9 unit to help, but weren't able to track the man down.

It's not clear if the woman and the burglar knew each other.
