CHARLOTTE, N.C. — For the second weekend in a row, the North Carolina Department of Transportation is shutting some lanes on I-85 in west Charlotte, which may affect weekend travel.
NCDOT said two or three southbound lanes on I-85 will close near the Tuckaseegee Road overpass, which is west of Little Rock Road.
Watch the above video as Gina Esposito walks you through the closures and the alternate routes to take.
The closure starts Friday at 8 p.m. and will continue until Monday at 5 a.m.
The closure is part of a $10.6 million improvement project.
Over the weekend, crews will be removing deteriorated concrete from the bridge decks.
As for alternate routes, NCDOT recommends that drivers coming out of Cabarrus County take the I-485 outer loop to get back onto I-85.
