Lightning responsible for Mooresville house fire


A lightning strike caused a fire in Mooresville Friday afternoon.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. - Firefighters in Mooresville spent an hour fighting a fire on Water Oak Drive Friday afternoon.

At 4:22 p.m., Mooresville Fire Rescue responded to a fire at 159 Water Oak Dr. When they arrived, they saw heavy smoke and fire coming out of the attic of a two-story house.

Everyone inside was able to escape unhurt.

Firefighters said a lightning strike caused the fire.

The American Red Cross is helping the family.
