Lincoln Co. authorities, Homeland Security make big drug bust

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — The Department of Homeland security was part of a major drug bust Thursday in Lincolnton.

Lincoln County investigators and SWAT team members also played a big part in charging Benny Garrett.

He's accused of trafficking methamphetamine throughout the county.

During the investigation into Garret, DHS also identified a large scale supplier of the drug living in South Carolina.

Lincoln County investigators believe by arresting Garrett they've interrupted the flow of methamphetamine into the Vale area and southwestern Catawba County.
