Investigators: Man shoots, kills brother in Lincoln Co.

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — Lincoln County authorities said a man shot and killed his brother Thursday night near Broad River Lane in Lincoln County.

An argument led to the deadly shooting in a neighborhood where the brothers lived, authorities said.

Police in Lincoln County said that 41-year-old Rickey Anders was shot in the head by his brother, 44-year-old Jeffrey Anders, around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Investigators said Jeffrey drove to his brothers' house and the two got into an argument outside.

Relatives of both brothers live all around the immediate area and a cousin told Channel 9 he was inside the victim's house and heard the scuffle.

"A lot of commotion. Everything went crazy. We heard two shots come out and found out that one brother had been shot," said Mark Goodson.

It is unclear what led to the argument and relatives have only said that the brothers had a rocky relationship as of late.

Family members said Rickey had recently gotten out of prison and was trying to get his life together. He had a criminal history, last convicted of felony breaking and entering in January of 2003 and just got out of prison for that crime in September

Jeffrey Anders is charged with second degree murder and is expected to go before a judge Friday morning.
