Lincoln County men charged with stealing trailers

DENVER, N.C. — Lincoln County sheriff's detectives charged two men with stealing trailers from separate locations in the Denver area.

Detective Greg Hager began the investigation into the theft of an enclosed trailer from a Burton Lane residence in Denver on Jan. 30.

The resident reported the 5-foot by 8-foot trailer was removed from the residence without their knowledge.

On Feb. 3, Catawba County Sheriff's Office Detective T. Whisnant located the trailer at the home of Johnny Dwayne Allison, 41, of Sherrills Ford. The trailer was recovered and returned to the owner.

Hager interviewed Allison at the Iredell County Sheriff's Office jail where he was being held on unrelated charges.  Following that interview, felony warrants were obtained for Allison and Randy Everette Spivey, 43, of Denver.

An additional victim was developed during the investigation when officers learned the two men had also stolen a trailer from a home under construction on Camp Ground Road in Denver.

Both men were charged with two felony counts each of larceny and possession of stolen goods.  Allison was arrested on Friday. He was taken before a magistrate and released on a $10,000 secured bail.

Spivey is currently in the custody of the North Carolina Department of Corrections on an unrelated charge and his warrants have not been served.
